Description
Acne is a common skin condition characterized by spots of varying severity on the face, back, and chest. Acne occurs when glands next to hair follicles produce too much oil and become blocked. Acne can be cause by hormonal changes, most commonly associated with puberty.
Four main factors that causes acne:
- Excess oil production
- Hair follicles clogged by oil and dead skin cells
- Bacteria
- Excess activity of a type of hormone (androgens)
